Dr Segan is a rheumatologist who graduated Monash University with honours in 2013. He completed further medical training at Alfred Health where he currently holds a position as a consultant rheumatologist. He completed his rheumatology training at Alfred Health, the Royal Melbourne Hospital and Western Health.

Julian has published medical research widely including exploring patient-centred care in rheumatoid arthritis.

Julian investigates and treats a broad range of rheumatic diseases including inflammatory arthritis (eg. rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis), gout, musculoskeletal complaints (eg. bursitis) and connective tissue diseases (eg. lupus).
